Light is the essence of stained glass
Only sunlight, that changes nearly every second, puts a stained glass window in its best light. Only then do we see the colours at their best and the composition tells its story. These are the changes which turn a stained glass window into a spectacle.
When there is no natural light (for example in case of the repurposing in a new building), artificial light is the only alternative. Until a few years ago, we only had the traditional clunky light box with fluorescent lamps. Luckily, things have changed since then!

Over the years, Atelier Mestdagh has acquired the necessary experience and now works with ultra thin LED light sheets. These innovative light sheets have many advantages:
- The light is distributed perfectly evenly, with no blind spots.
- The sheets are only 6 to 8 mm thick.
- LED lighting is very durable and ecological.
- The light sheets are flexible in terms of dimensions and shape (up to max 3 m x 1.5 m).
- The panels are dimmable, both manually and remotely.
